Born in Eastern Nebraska, Bern Miller has lived the last twenty years in the Western Nebraska panhandle. He considers this picturesque area his home. He studied art at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and also the Krustev School of Portrait Art. Bern's work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and can be found in many private collections. Because of his diverse educational background his illustrations show a great variety of technique, style and media. Anything from western impressionism to western abstract could be included in his work. His paintings reflect an honesty that Bern literally lives every day.

Bern’s three sons are also artisans. Dustin, the youngest, teaches art at Southwest Missouri State University. Doug is a graphic designer in Kansas City. Dan is a design agency art director and gallery painter residing in the Colorado Rockies. All three sons studied fine art at Chadron State College in Nebraska.

Bern currently teaches drawing, painting and art history at several schools and universities in the Nebraska panhandle on a part-time basis. Training horses is now his full time job. As a certified trainer, Bern offers intensive private training courses and weekend clinics. He provides day work for local ranchers and also participates in team roping. He lives with his wife, Kay, on a small acreage north of Bridgeport.
